“Darkness comes in so many shades.
Yours I had never seen before.
I almost did not notice.
It was a cloud in a passionate storm.
The thunder forced you to hide.
The sky that was purple for me
burned your eyes.
I was once there
when you opened them up again.
A light cut through darkness.
Vanilla scented and burning bright.
You had found your frequency once more,
and it tainted the night.
When you saw me
my soul started leaking
those freshly opened eyes had to witness
the shadows that linger in the back of my head
I think they do like you.
My shadows adore you,
although I want to give you light,
or just a thing to hold on to.
Something scented in Vanilla,
with the memory of bonfire,
instead of cigarettes and wine.
I want your eyes to open up.
I want the night to end
your darkness to sooth
and my shadows to ease.
But Darkness has so many shades!
From purple to flames,
from storm to thunder,
to vanilla and wine.
Who are we to chase it away?
We are a body and soul
ready to witness
the next glimpse of light.
Never knowing when or where
or in which shade,
and still we yearn.
I want your eyes to open up yet again,
and see that I am still here.
Just as I was through purple and flames,
in storm and thunder.”
