About a magical night in Brussels with Aurora

I have never dedicated a whole blog post to just one musician, and now I almost feel bad about writing this. But also, I have to share this.

I have just been to Brussels to see Aurora live at “Forest National”. It was my third time seeing her, and I love her music deeply. In fact, I feel as if I’m still high on this experience. I won’t write a full concert review, since it’s not my thing. I just want to share one moment. The moment of the first song.

The choice surprised me. The song “churchyard” from her second album never was a single, although it’s one with a strong atmosphere. And strong lyrics.

Sometimes, I think of it as a the story of an abusive relationship. It could be a lovers, it could be a child and a parent. It could be about god, or at least the cruel and manipulative version of god I got to know.

“Tell me how do people know what is hurt, what is love?”

When the bass was vibrating through my body on these words sung as a desperate scream by Aurora’s wonderful voice, I was shivering so hard, I began to cry, not even a minute into the first song!

That was magic.
