How to not fail in flames!

Going down in flames is not as much fun as it may seem to a heart aching in Dystopia.

Typing these words, my thoughts return to the nice man wearing a silver west over a fine shirt while explaining the model of a candle light and pointing out the 1300°C it could reach, and oh! I was on fire back then!

But since I have been writing so much about all these precious, magical and unique things which have been going down in flames, I will now try to write a short and simple guide about how to avoid all of this.

This is a short guide for not losing heart and soul in flames and ashes!

Can‘t be that difficult, right?

So, let‘s get started. Once again, I am basing all of this on my extensive and not at all soul-eating and depressing research about the being of witches and why they have to burn (thanks Heinrich!).

  1. Don‘t daydream!

Yes, excessive daydreams are dangerous as hell! They lure your thoughts away from what you‘re actually doing right in that moment, making it easier to discover something not being alright, or even something else to pursuit. This makes it safer not to ever dream at all, because dreams matter far too much in witching!

  1. Don‘t wish for things

When was the last time a fairy appeared in front of you, ready to grant you a wish? Very long ago, probably, if ever. That is because wishes are just another way to escape reality and turn things upside down. Wishes are just an innocent from of daydreams, and thus are the safest to be avoided.

  1. Stop needing things

A Vanilla Latte in the morning? A midnight snack? Calling a friend after hours? Watching just another episode? Do you really need any of these things? Well, if you listen to your whiny heart, it will probably try to convince you so, but that is just a trap. You better realize that actually you do not ever need any of these things at all.

  1. Don‘t have a voice too high

…and resist the temptation to sing out loud. Because witches have always been known too have the highest and sweetest voices of all, and to use them to get their wicked ways. Don‘t sound like them, and don‘t sing or hum any sweet melody ever crossing your mind.

That sounds tough to accomplish? Oh well. Just keep things simple.
Enjoy your life through not even expecting anything really good to ever happen. Work hard on being the pretty but not too beautiful asset. Nice to look at, but actually quite redundant.

If you don‘t want to go down in flames, that‘s all it takes!

I wish I’d told you all my stories.

I want to tell you all my storiesIt’s not that they would changeIt’s just that I would likeTo see themFormA new expressionOn your face I need to tell you all my storiesI am not sureIf they makeSenseThe way I thoughtThey do. I will tell you all my storiesThey frighten meI’m sure you won’t endureI see…

Dealing with darkness in writing

This spring afternoon is glowing pink and tastes like strong tea. It feels much too familiar, and I begin to open up.I feel far away from myself as I start to talk, to babble on about my novel. About all the things I’ve been reading about in the past 5 years. About the 17th century,…

Radical witching novel rewrites at 4 AM!

I wore the same night dress my witch used to wear to get drunk on my windowsill, when I suddenly had an idea at 4 AM. Great ideas always happen at 4 AM, remember? This one however, kept me awake for at least a week, debating it back and forth. At some point my witch…
