Has there been a fire?
Is that why your cheeks are covered in gray and your breath is a cough?
Has it made you run too fast? Chased you away when you were out of breath?
Is there a gray cloud threatening your sky?
Just like a storm hanging at the horizon?
Ready to burst.
To suffocate you.
Is that why your soaking wet?
Is the rain not just falling, but drumming or even hammering down on you?
Cold as ice and ready to stay.
Drowning you away from the most important things you’ve got to do?
Has the whole world turned into a maze?
With someone crying at the other end.
With tears at every corner.
And with the walls ready to crash down on you.
Is your skin failing you?
Ice cold and still on fire?
Have bodies been breaking?
Are they falling apart and flooding the earth?
Is there nothing left for you, but a soar wound?
And most importantly:
Has your heart gone lost?
„And all of this at once?“, the demon might wonder, even laugh those words out into your darkest hour, once it noticed your despair.
But stop the worry now: A demon must know what to do. They give advice and know of things no human ever will!
What to do in those times written in pain?
Those times that make you wish that you were never born at all?
„Remember the girl?“, the demon wants to know and oh! – You better remember.
„The girl“, its voice of darkness continues, „which is crying alone there at the other end of the maze? The one you almost drowned and burned? Which took the blame endured the wrath this world could offer? Remember her? Wasn‘t she lovely?“
And the demon laughs again.
„I think she needs a hug“, it demands, and the universe agrees.
This girl needs a hug for the madness to stop.
„And a cookie“, the demon adds in a moment of passion. „A pumpkin spice latte, probably.“
Once you‘ve put on your coat, found your umbrella and made the decision that things weren’t bad enough and you’re gonna continue just as before, the demon stops laughing.
