A witching lesson learned

“You feel so far away today
Your path leads north
And mine does not.

I came across a field just now
I thought that
You might like it.

Eyes wide open
Arms stretched out
I still had much to learn.

And when I crossed
Your path back then
I thought that you could show me.

How Skin could feel
How blood could cook
A heart that aches is a heart that lives!

I want it once
And then move on
On the path we’d find ourselves

Now that I know
I can’t let go
I’ve known before
I’ve known with you
I speak in voices
You once heard
I move in steps
As you might do
I can’t go back
To how it was
I have become
The person
You might have known.”

“That’s how we summon better days”, my witch giggles. “We pretend they were already there.”
