When we fall …

Who’ll be there
When we fall?
Who will come
To catch us all?
Who’ll be there
In the end?

Late at night
I hear his voice
And I know that
He waved her goodbye
Through the noise
Of a world turning away.

Laughter from
A window above
Blurry lights
And I know that
She gave upon love
Right there.

And I wonder
Who’ll be there
When we fall?
Who will come
To catch us all?
Who’ll be there
In the end?

I fell for you
In an October night
With a heart that
Had seen too much pain
And you were terrified.

You told me once
That we weren’t right
On a January day
That brought snow
And too little light.

Ten years later
I found out
That you were dying
When a November cloud
Brought nothing
But rain.
And I wonder
Who’ll be there
When we fall?
Who will come
To catch us all?
Who’ll be there,
In the end?
